Age and Value?

Postby Guest » Sun Jun 27, 2004 1:34 pm

A few years ago I bought a 16'9" Daysailer and I am now thinking of selling, but I want to know if I've got something of a classic. The Hull # is 5471 and the Class #869. It has molded fiberglass seats, lever style centerboard. From what I've gathered from other postings, this might be a very early model, but others have me wondering. Are there other indicators of age? What year do you think it was made?

It was probably built in the late 50's-early 60's. exact date is hard to determine since that information wasn't required to be molded into the gelcoat until the 70's.

But, you DO have classic - a Day Sailer I, the boat that defined the term "daysailer" that has been appropriated by almost every other small sailboat made since then.
