Canadian built Daysailer

Postby Guest » Sun Aug 08, 2004 2:45 pm

I am trying to find out what year a daysailer was built. It was built in Brampton Ontario, Hull #16984, class#3036.
Thank you

According to the chart that I have in my ref book of articles the only year that Can-Am built the Daysailer was 1974. I have one of those boats and it seems to be well built. I do not know the history of the boat but I think it may have been sailed in Ohio at one point.
Today I added access ports to the seats and renoved the water soaked foam in the process. I weighed the removed foam and it totaled 135 lbs.
This boat is a project boat that I hope to make all of the improvements by 2006.

I have Hull #17104 Class 3056 built in 1968 by O'Day. It is still mostly original with a blue hull and white topside.

Looks like the boat that I own was built in Canada and I am not sure if this boat falls in with the Can-Am boats of 1974 or not. It does not have the boat manufacturing information molded into the hull. There is a Nametag installed on the forward bulkhead containing the following information.

Oday Canada Ltd
Brampton Ontarion
19878 3665
Made in Canada

Anyone know if this could be one of the 1974 boats?

To add to the confusion . . .

. . . I own DS1 1970 #3963 Hull #21541 with the tag indicating the boat was built by O'Day Canada, LTD Brampton Ontario.

It's a "Good old boat and still going strong".

By the way, it's currently listed for sale on this forum.
