Restoring a DS 1

Postby Beau Schless » Sun Sep 26, 2004 7:58 pm

I have found a DS1 in reasonable shape..centerboard is okay, rudder, tiller okay. Floorboards okay..It's been sitting out in New England weather for an number of years. No mast, sails, rigging or boom. Is it worth the trouble restoring it? What would you estimate it would cost to refurb it, if I did all the work (I'm handy, can rig a mast, Awqlgrip the hull, etc).

Please email me with any comments to
bschless@rasco.com

Thanks!

Welcome. Check the price list on spars, sails, rigging (this site). w/out much info, I'd say yes, a "refurb" is very much worth it, if you like to sail. Take a deep dive into the maintenance and rigging pages on this forum, esp. into anything DS1 related. The discussions are revealing.

Enjoy!
