ds1 mast size

Postby bluem27 » Sun Aug 07, 2005 11:33 pm

My no hinge mast measured 20'.
The mainsail dimensions I have received show a 20' luff.
How far up from the mast step should the band #3 at the top be, and band #2 at the boom.
This mast has no spreaders. What year boat is this?
Thanks, Bob in Maitland, Fl.

If your mast is only 20' for a DS1 then it is likely not the proper mast. Most DS1 masts are about 25 feet long and have spreaders. Check this site under Day Sailer Assoc, Handbook, Part 3. If you can send me a picture I may be able to give you more information. Many of the O'day boats had a metal plate on the bow flotation tank showing the serial number and the class number. From the class number we can estimate the year the boat was born.

Thanks, Bob
No luck on bow flotation tank. Where would the number be located on the tank. Where else might there be numbers. Working on pictures now
Thank you, Bob in Maitland, Fl
