The amount I lowered it was only about 3/4" in the front and 1 - 1 1/4" in the rear. It doesn't sound like much but it really helps in comfort. The coamings will still shed water and it makes the coamings less likely to break or split. It also keeps the look I like, you'd be hard pressed to see the difference. I'll drop some photos as soon as I get a new camera.
