Some photos of my new boat

Postby further876 » Wed Jun 29, 2016 3:15 pm

Here are a couple of pictures of my new boat. I have had it for about a month now. I would have some more exciting pictures from last Saturday but I jumped out of the boat with my phone in my pocket thinking that it was a lot more shallow than it actually was.

Nice boat. I always carry my phone in a small dry pouch, just in case.

Life proof case...

It works, lol. I dunked mine under the water and none gets in the phone. Just have to turn the volume up a little more when taking calls, but still sounds good.

I really don't like taking calls on the water, so mine goes into a pelican case, together with anything else that I was carrying and that can't get wet. Something like this, except I use a bigger one, so I can fit wallet and keys (fobs).

I have owned a life proof case. They are great. I used to take under water photos with it. Right now I normally uses a small dry bag that is designed for cell phones. It works great on the sailboat or on the kayak. Unfortunately I had forgotten it at home.

Thumbs up on this.

My smartphone comes on the boat for two reasons only. Emergency calls and taking pictures. I have a hard case like Greenlake mentions that all the water sensitive items go in but lately I've been using one of those phone dry bags with a lanyard for easy access to the "camera". When I sail, the LAST thing I want to do is be attached to that other world of texts, emails and phone calls.

I'm not sure which item I resent having to keep aboard my boat more... the phone or that stinkin 2-cycle outboard.

Well, I never let a standard outboard near my boat. Can't stand the noise and have two left thumbs when it comes to get them started or control in critical maneuvers -- I've used a few on other people's boats, but with about 100 times the problem rate compared to the minimalist trolling motor setup I use. (The ratio accounts for different number of outings with either).
