1967 DS1 Centerboard lost

If anyone is parting out an old DS1, an apparently unavoidable dramatic mishap this end-of-season took away my centerboard. Cut off right at the level of the hull. Hoping to find a replacement so the music and song can continue. Grateful to hear from anyone. Thank you!

I do not, but you must share the story!

Yes! "Apparently unavoidable" is such a build-up!

As a total aside: if you're half-ways handy, don't dismiss making your own - the class handbook gives all the measurements for the outline, and the curves for a nice profile can be found online. If you put together something with a nice foil shape, you not only would have a way to continue the "music and song", but you might find that they are quite a bit more inspired.

cris, if you wondering what happened to your story that you just shared.

I love your story - and the your writing, so much, that so I thought I'd move it to the Seamanship and Boat Handling section of the forum, so it won't be lost in this thread here, which is focused more on how you can get back a new board.

I'm glad to hear the CB is the weak link. Much cheaper and easier to fix than the CB trunk or the hull.

I just realized that I have 4 centerboards that I have accumulated over the years, Ranging from $50 to $400 plus shipping. Pictures available if you wish.
