DS II can hold quite a bit of water in bilge, quite a bit!

DigitalMechanic is pretty much right. So is KingsTransom. I looked on the Cape Cod Shipbuilding web site to see how the current DS is made. It appears that they don't use a transom drain, only a bilge drain:

So maybe we could fill in the hole and have one less thing to worry about.
