Weekend work on the DS

Postby fatjackdurham » Sun Aug 06, 2017 3:12 pm

Couldn't go sailing because I am on call this weekend for work, so I did a bunch of PMCS on the boat.

1) Motor works now. I dumped out the bad gas, filled it with fresh, and it seems to run fine and fast. We'll see next weekend.

2)Made pins for the mast tabernacle. I got a couple 1/4" stainless bolts, and to cheer me up, put the on the lathe to turn the heads round. Cut off the threads, drilled a hole and voila!

3) Made a rudder lift lock based on what I had on my old 1967 Mariner. It looks like it's too small for the mast crutch, but it works. It's much closer on the rudder pintles. Friction tension is by lock washers, to keep it from just flapping back and forth.

4) Mad a mast crutch for traveling and stepping the mast.

5) Adjust the winch pillar so that it's properly connected to the boat. It was too high and too far before.
