Circular pin attaching shroud to chain plate

Postby jefflw » Fri Oct 30, 2009 10:20 pm

Is it best to have the circular pin that attaches the shroud to the chain plate on the outside of the chain plate, or on the inside towards the cuddy? Or does it even matter?

I put mine inside, though I'm uncertain if it's ever made a difference on my DS1, on the assumption that those rings, which can open some, are less likely to catch on stuff. But you can also just cover the chainplates with short sections of turnbuckle boots, which is on my "winter to do list."

I suspect it makes no difference - not least because on the DS the jib is sheeted inside the shrouds and not like a genua on a larger boat, outside.
