CofC Congradulations to Mike and Mardi Gillum

I see that our DS champs did very well at US Sailings Championship of Champions. Being the runner up in the premier one design sailers across the country speaks volumes. If you;re not familiar with the CofC it is an invitational sailboat race that's open to applications from one design class champions. I track it every year and follow closer than the America Cup.

This wasn't, by any chance, Sunday before last (October 23) on San Francisco Bay?

On closer inspection, probably not, since the race results are final as of Oct. 22. :)

I was wondering because we did kayak escort duty for a swim race under the Golden Gate bridge on the 23rd. Our radio was tuned to marine channel 72 and after we were done we heard some talk about Corinthian Yacht Club and a regatta. Later we drove up to the Marin headlands to have a look, and the Golden Gate was swimming with sailboats, even by SF bay weekend standards, all going in the same direction.

It was in Texas just outside of Houston on White Rock lake and the only boat to beat Mike and Mardi was the Flying Scott National Champion and the championship was sailed in Flying Scotts. That makes it an even greater accomplishment!

How cool is that!? Win second-place in the Champion of Champions and doing it with the family has crew! Congratulations Mike, Mardi, and Allison!
