Instruments for DS

Postby mainegrw » Sun Apr 05, 2009 8:50 pm

I have been looking to add some basic instrumentation to my DS II and I found in the West Marine catalog the Velocitek Speed Puck. I was curious if anyone has used this item, and what anyone thought about it. (For anyone who doesn't know) The Speed puck is a GPS based knot meter, compass, and shift indicator. It requires no drilling of holes, no external power, and can be hand held or mounted via "super-lock". It seems like a worth-while investment, but it's not cheap, so I wanted some input. My thought is that the speed puck will help me become a better navigator, as well as a better sailor.
