she's a beauty...

Hi all,

I wish I knew about this portal when I was near my DS 1 and had taken pictures that would do justice to you as viewers. That said, I wanted to share some pics I took of my new toy even though I never got a chance to launch her. I surely wish I had taken a close up of the original paddle/boom cradle and the metal tag identifying the model number that I could share with you. I'll do that next summer when I'm back with her.

At any rate, enjoy these if I can figure out how to get them in place.

In your image, the keelson flares out and is merged with the bulkhead. That's different from my '63. Wonder whether it's original, and if so, which year the change was made.

This hull was built in 1970 or 71. I don't think, but don't know for sure, if any changes were made by previous owners so I suspect it might have been a design change.

This looks like a great boat! Welcome aboard. The keelson is the same as on my 73. It is integral with the front tank and has a drain near the centerboard trunk. The cap on the centerboard trunk looks the same, as well.

THe paddle-boom cradle is a clever idea, but does not work well in practice. Much better to rig a topping lift.
