Transom Rub Rail

Postby Guest » Tue Aug 07, 2001 7:54 pm

Acquired a DS1 with a broken wood (probably teak)transom rub rail. Original was 3/4" x 3/16" x 50 3/4" (approx.)and was screwed on. I have seen DS1's with a metal rail.
Does anyone know of a source for this part? (I tried Cape Cod Shipbuilding and D&R Marine but neither had it.)

For the teak rail, go to a local marine store or boatyard, they should have teak lumber for sale. A boatyard of marine woodworking store may be able to recreate the rail for you if you bring in the old one.
For a metal rub-rail, most marine stores sell aluminum and stainless steel rubrail in 6' and 12' pieces.
WEST MARINE, BOAT/US, BOATER'S WORLD, etc. all have this material.
