Centerboard Handle Assembly Help

Postby further876 » Mon Jun 06, 2016 8:18 pm

I just bought a DS1 and I think it missing the locking pawl for the handle. Does anyone have some photos showing this so I can get an idea of where it is mounted and how it works. It looks like the actual part is pretty cheap to buy but I can find any info on how to install it.

Thanks for any help you can give

The pawl is a small piece of metal that pivots around the bottom forward screw. Most of its weight is forward of the screw, so the inner part is pushed against the handle. At the upright position, there's a notch in the handle. The inner part fits into it, locking the handle in the upright position. To release, you flick the outer part up, disengaging the inner part from the notch and move the handle. Look a the handle - the notch may not be full width, so the inner part of the pawl may be narrower as well.

A simple part that you could manufacture yourself.
