Removing aluminum mast shoe out of bottom of mast
Posted: Sat Jul 16, 2016 4:23 pmI had a sidestay fail and the mast went over ripping out the mast step from the deck and bending the SS bracket attached to the bottom of the mast. In order to flatten that bracket out, I need to remove it from the bottom of the mast which necessitates removing the aluminum mast shoe that the bracket is attached to. It looks like I have to drill out the bottom four rivets in the halyard blocks to get the shoe out. Does anyone have any experience with this?
