Center Board Play

Postby Guest » Tue Jun 04, 2002 10:42 pm

When my center board is in the up and locked position, it is hanging below the boat about 10 inches. This does not seem right to me. I feel there is something worn for this to happen. I also seem to have slop and the board wants to work up when there is a lot of wave action from power boats.
Can this problem be solved? If so how should I go about it?

Jim. Do you have a DSI or II? If it's a DSI It may be the haddle was installed worng. If not, you need to remove your center board and check that the square hole for the handle is still square or not dammaged. As for side way play or slop, many DS owers add shims to each side of center board where the handle goes through. I used two six inch square pices of formica, holes for the handle. This also reduced the tendancy of rhe center board to work up in waves.
