End grain balsa core was good. Pretty good for 1969 boat

I cut 2 holes like this on the floor of the boat.
The starboard and port Side
One between the rear of the center board trunk and the stern and one at the front of the center board.

Here is better pics
Port side is good and starboat core material gone.
I am doing so much to boat that next year I will redo both. I am prioritizing because I want to go sailing instead of working on a boat all summer. : )
