Replacement deck?

Postby vermontsailor » Tue Apr 13, 2021 9:38 am

Continuing the restoration quest, now picking up speed in the Spring. Question:

My centerboard pivot hole is in a peculiar location, beneath the surface of the cockpit floor. To accommodate this, it sits in a well, approx 8' long, 6" wide and 6"deep.

Note too that the top of the centerboard trunk, from the cockpit floor, is only 8".

Both of these lead me to assume that this floor is a PO addition. I have not seen anything like this in the few images I can find of CB assemblies online. Seems to be a one-off custom.

Do I have this right? Thoughts?

Additionally, there are no thwarts to support this trunk, and do not appear to have been, with no visible remaining connection points. Did my early 1970s DS1 come without these supports?

Does it look like a PO addition? Yes it does. Unless you don't have a DS but some kind of clone.
