Daysailer Boat Cover

Postby DigitalMechanic » Wed Oct 25, 2017 8:50 pm

Hey everyone!

I was able to get a cover made for my boat by one of our fellow Daysailer Association members. Share the love!

Mike Gillum put together an awesome cover for my boat in which I have had many many compliments on. If you are interested here is his website info... http://www.gpsawnings.com

I am very happy with the cover and it is setup for trailering, mooring, and/or dry dockage with the mast up (which is what I do). Price is comparable to other vendors, but probably supersedes them in quality. Mike said he would make me the best boat cover my money could by... and I do not doubt that is just what he did

Below are some pictures, but excuse, as the cover arrived right when Hurricane Irma landed upon us.

Looks like a really nice cover! I am looking for input in designing my own and the options of having a mast cover as well to corrall all the shroud lines.

My sailorstailer cover is near the end of its life. Will make a note here for the replacement

Mebbe ten years? I’ve had to patch it several times, but have learned than the vinyl coating in a can is better than a sewn patch.
Both the boat and the cover took a beating when in-law Incorrectly retied the docklines, And the boat went under the dock.

Ah, you keep your boat on a dock then. That makes sense.

For me dry-sailing my boat, tarps are a better choice - not least because they get supremely dirty at my winter storage location and a cover would look awful after ten years of this :)

When my boat went under the dock, I bought a used boat lift.

That should fix it. I know (and visit) some locations with docks like that and it can be a challenge to tie up a boat even for a short term stay. Some areas are so affected by powerboat wakes that boat lifts are a must for keeping a boat long term.
