Ok, so I took my DS1 off the trailer to remove the previous paint job. I thought it would be a good time to take the centerboard out and inspect it. As I removed it I got water dripped on me. Turns out someone drilled a hole through the centerboard which answered my question as to why there were filled holes on either side of the trunk. It looks like it was someone’s idea to put a pin through the trunk/centerboard to keep it in the up position. Guess it didn’t work out too well since the holes in the trunk were filled.
So moving the centerboard around I am able to drain most of the water that is in it, but I can still hear it moving around. It seems like there is material in there that is impeding the flow. So, what are the implications and how can I remove all the water? Is the centerboard supposed to be hollow?
