I have a 1976 DS2.

I am looking for a quick release/attach bow shackle for connecting the mainsheet to the boom.

Right now, I have a small bow shackle that uses a screw to go through the top block. It is cumbersome to unscrew/screw this small screw, especially if the wind is blowing and moving the boom around.

Seems to me that there has to be a quick connect substitute for this shackle.

The limiting thing here seems to be the size of the hole in the top block of the mainsheeting block & tackle.

My rigging terms may be off some (or maybe just totally incorrect), but I really need something like a narrow cleavis pin with a ball on one end so I can quickly attach/detach the mainsheet from the boom.

Help me out here.

Depending on what sort of bail you have on the top of your block, you could also use a rapide link to attach the snap shackle. I used 3.5's and 4's all over the boat:

I have had good luck (racing and high wind sailing) on my DS2 using snap shackles from amazon.

They might not be as nice as the Ronstan/Harken/Etc, but they are holding up to the loads that I put on them and they are 1/5 the price.
