Anybody Still Use Separate Jib Wire & Cloth Adjustments?

Postby hsumralljr » Sat Mar 11, 2017 6:46 pm

Back in the early 70's my parents owned DS 3647, and the yacht club we were members had a sizable fleet. The most tricked-out boats used separate adjustments for tension on the jib's luff wire, and cloth (think a jib cunningham). Long story short, my latest DS acquisition has this setup... does anybody still use this arrangement?

My last sail had a way to set tension separately, but not with adjustment on the water. The sail had a fixed lashing that determined the relative tension of the cloth when the luff wire was tight. I never noticed a need to adjust that, but my setup is not what you call "most tricked out".
