As Ive been restoring old boats for a fairly short time, Im now getting around to sails.
My DS2 has slugs in the luff..but the previous owner apparently sailed it loose footed when the bolt rope disintergrated. Ive the same issue with the entire sail on my Venture 224.
Im asking for opinions as to what type of slug attachment I should use.

Are these adequate for a DS2 AND a Venture 24 (sails are about the same size..boat weight is far far different.
Or should I put in grommets and bit the bullet and get the grommet tool etc etc. The DS2 has old nylon slugs tied into the grommets with line. Seems to work ok, but will take some time tying each one in. I dont have a "heavy duty" sewing machine..just your basic Sears machine so using webbing may not be easily done.
Both sails are "ok" but trying to put the least amount of stress on them would probably be best. Any ideas, suggestions, etc etc would be greatly appreciated.

I assume that 5/16" slugs are proper for the DS2 and 3/8 (or 1/2"?) for the Venture 224?
Thanks!
