Can anyone identify the maker of this sail based on the emblem? It came with a HOOD sail bag but no mfg. logo patch on the sail

I was able to find the same logo with a 19 and attributed to O'Day (found at: https://www.goodoldboat.com/pdfs/SailInsigniaGuide.pdf). That logo is for the O'Day 19 (https://sailboatdata.com/sailboat/oday-19)

O'Day used similar logos for other boats, like the O'Day 15. This makes it likely it was used (whether always or temporarily) for the DSIII because that boat is not considered 'class-legal' for the DS. A DS is 16'9" LOA and 16' LWL so some list it as a 16' boat and some as a (nearly) 17' one. (It's also possible that they had another 17' boat in their lineup, however: you can find an O'Day 19 and a Rhodes 19 both built by O-Day - we would need info from someone who has some positive knowledge of the history).

Sadly, the best lists of sail insignia are apparently somewhat out of date, so you'll encounter many boats with insignia you won't be able to track down, but if you are in an area where people sail a lot of older boats, the list will help you identify them.
