Sailing in the Texas ICW

Postby jeadstx » Thu Jun 18, 2009 10:57 am

I've been following the Tx200 (Port Mansfield to Magnolia Beach, 200 miles along the Texas ICW) which recently finished up. I wasn't able to go on it this year, but hope to take my DSII on it next year. A number of boats in this year's Tx200 had problems with high winds (20-25 knots). I've sailed for many years, but have never sailed in the ocean (Texas ICW), only inland lakes. I have a question for any Daysailers that sail the ICW around Corpus Christi (or any where along the route the Tx200 took). I would like to know how the Daysailers handle these waters and what kinds of problems can be encountered and the best ways to avoid possible problems?
