I've got the exact same tent, purchased from Intensity Sails (and mentioned in a previous thread). It's very well made and fits beautifully.

With a little careful maneuvering, you could sleep under, it if need be, assuming you had no other options. If I were doing a bare essentials type of cruise, I'd probably go for a real tent pitched on the beach, first.

I've been searching for a tent that would fit my DS2 and allow a dry overnight or two. But it's been hard to find a tent that is 6-7 ft by 12 ft or so, with an open floor and doors and windows in the right places, with a simple hoop frame. However, I just ordered a tent on Ebay that doesn't need much modification for $71.

http://cgi.ebay.com/6-Man-PolarShield-Camping-3-Room-Cabin-Tent_W0QQitemZ390246474059QQcategoryZ16041QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3907.m263QQ_trkparmsZalgo%3DSIC%26itu%3DUCI%252BIA%252BUA%252BFICS%252BUFI%252BDDSIC%26otn%3D8%26pmod%3D390246058705%252B350398116097%252B390245651754%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D5282458866247663433

I plan to add zippered doors on the ends for access to the foredeck and cross ventilation. I can make receivers for the poles along the deck edges and make hold down hooks that engage the boats deck edge. The tent is only 5 ft high but that's at deck level so there's plenty of headroom even near the sides. Of course this is all pure conjecture till I actually get the tent and check it out in a week or so.
Wish me luck!

update...

(re: above post) Just wanted to let everyone know the ebay tent I just got fits the DS like a glove. It's cheaply made (as expected by the price, $70) but it didn't have any problem with the rain and 50 mph gusts of the last few days.

I got it to 'camp' overnight on the boat, but I'm finding that it keeps the leaves and weather out and makes a pretty good winter cover too! There's 5.5 ft headroom so I can work on the boat all winter.

Right now the tent 'feet' are clamped to the shear which works fine, but I will be making small holes in the shear to receive the pole ends with bungies to hold them in place. This will allow me to pull the sides of the tent up so you can see outside, go swimming, etc. and pull them back down to keep out weather, bugs, etc.

Hmm. I don't find posting pictures here very difficult and it's nice to be able to access them without ads. Also, they don't tend to disappear like external photos.

The Website Info subforum has a thread with instructions on how to post images.
