distance between bench backs

Postby BreezingUp » Sat Jun 30, 2018 1:03 pm

Does anyone happen know the distance between the bench backs inside a Daysailer II cockpit? Alternatively, the width of the gunwales? I need to know and am not near my boat. Thanks.

The beam is 6 feet three inches, if that helps (winging it from memory).

Hi,

Yes, I know that part - but I need the distance inside the cockpit, from the back of the bench on one side to the back of the bench on the other.

Or, if I knew the width of the gunwales, I could subtract twice that from 6' 3".

Thanks.

OK, I'll be able to measure it Tuesday, if no one has chimed in by then.

Whatever you do, don't assume right angles and straight lines on a boat.

Where in the cockpit do you need that measurement - aft, center of forward? Bet the numbers have a good chance of being different. . .

(No access to a DSII, otherwise I'd send you number).

I hope this isn't too late for your needs. My DSII project boat is still in my carport as I have been out of town and it way too hot here to work outside anyway. At the aft most point I could measure the highest point on the "seat backs" are 49-3/8" apart. At the point where the main sheet block & cleat are attached to the CB trunk they are 55-7/8" apart. As close to the cabin as I could measure they are 52" apart. Within the limits of me holding a tape measure by myself, of course.

thistle3920,

No, not too late at all - that's very helpful. I just want to put a piece of plywood across the benches to raise my homemade boom crutch (and the boat cover that goes over that).

I asked about the measurement because my boat is moored at a lake an hour away. Thanks for you help!

Oops, I misunderstood the question and measured between the inboard edges of the seats, but since I made the measurements, I might as well immortalize them here:

Aft: 24-1/18 inches

Right behind the mainsheet block on the centerboard trunk: 31 inches

Forward, at the two rounded corners just behind the cuddy bulkhead: 28-1/16 inches.

No, I think your first answer was what I wanted - the distance between the backs of the benches (what you lean back against). That must be 49 3/8", not 24 1/8".

Thanks again.
