Day Sailer III or II Outboard motor weight?

Regarding the DS3 only. Note that the DS3 is not a class-legal Day Sailer.

Day Sailer III or II Outboard motor weight?

Does anyone think a 3.5 hp. Tohatsu weighing 43 pounds is too heavy for the transom of a Day Sailor III and would impact sailing performance?

It will not be a problem. I have a 3.5 Nissan on my DS II (admittedly mine is a 2 stroke, short shaft).

This is a very late response, but the DSIII that I bought this summer came with a Yamaha 4hp 4 stroke which runs 48-50lbs. I have not found it is detrimental to cruising. It does not make the boat sit down in the stern and it will zip the DSII quick quickly at barely 1/2 throttle.
