As part of the discussion on the forum concerning marketing of the Daysailer and places where Daysailers can get together, I'm posting this for Jackie and Mike Monies from the Texas 200 forum. Since many like myself can not make it to the east coast for a possible New England gathering, this may be a good place for Daysailer owners to get together in the center of the country.
Date is Oct. 9-10-11, but people are welcome to come on Friday if they want to, Mike just didn't want to make it too long but if people come from a long way, I guess Friday would be better. So, add they can come Friday, Sat., Sun, Mon!
Also the official name now is "Sail Oklahoma-Lake Eufaula Messabout" but power boats or paddlers are welcome of course.
Production boats, homemades, whatever, any kind of boat. No official racing but we are coming up with some water games for boats to take part in, fun things. I think some "match racing" like we used to do when I was involved with race horses might be fun.
Everything is free, no fees to launch at our boat ramp, no camping fees, if in our backyard! Parking is free down by lake, a beach and grassy area for boats and people down at launch at end of our street.
We also have Corps of Engineers campgrounds, two down the road, a boating motel (not on water) down the road, a marina with slips down the road a short distance, restaurants right down from our house.
We plan to have a giant weekend potluck of meals, cooking here at house on decks and sharing meals.
Very laid back weekend at the Lake!
Eufaula is "The Gentle Giant", big waters, deep water, wind usually, good boating area. It is almost all lake camps, lots of fishing and fishing tournaments held here all year. We live 5 miles south of the town of Eufaula on Highway 9 East, about one mile off Highway 69 which is main north south road to Texas and Kansas City, about 18 miles south of Interstate 40.
I will do maps later.
