The Backyard Regatta

I was really amped to be invited to the Backyard Series this Spring, it's very competitive and the bragging rights are huge for the locals. I even borrowed a set of camoflage sails (so the other racers don't know what I'm flying) and buffed out my graphite foils to prepare. I was feeling fast and looking forward to being given the Grass Cup at the famous post race B-B-Q!

Unfortunately, YellowSlide caught me on port tack at the start, put me in the coffin corner and I never recovered! DAL again...

Jay - Although I am not really sure what you are talking about, I am surprised that given the sailing conditions that you didn’t swap out your propeller for a set of lawn mower blades. Now I am not an expert, but your sails appear to be a bit more stealth than camouflaged. Brad

My DS capsized during the backyard regatta, the camera fell overboard, so no pictures.

I've been told my sense of humor is a bit dry; my father worked for the New Yorker and I grew up reading all those cartoons. However, now that I've gauged the audience my next picture will likely be me stepping on a rake on the finish line!

Yeah, I capsized mine in a backyard regatta a while back. It took a lot of work before I could get it righted again. http://www.walkerguitars.com/photos/day ... g_2946.htm

Well, we had the darndest time keeping her from turtling. Getting back up on the CB was tricky, despite the "high-grip" edge that we had put on. I found what appears to be an image from a head-strap camera. It shows what I was looking at during that critical moment of the operation.

Came across this thread from four years ago. Then as now, narrowly missed the April 1st...

I had a mishap at the Norcal Dry this year. Cecile Brunner blanketed my Inviso-Rig with her spinnaker, then the race committee ruled that my externally attached ballast wasn't class legal.

Missed the start as I heeled on Port tack, lost sight of the committee boat and missed the signal. Next Year!
