I do think it would be fun to get together for a sail in 2013. This event never did materialize in 2012. However, it seems to me that it would be easier to start out small. I think a New England DaySailer meet up for a single day event would be much more likely to happen.
I've been interested to see that the Florida trailer sailors do get together on a fairly regular basis. They do seem to do single day events and also longer events. To get a critical mass for a trailer sailor get together, it might be easier to start out with an open, bring whatever you have, get together.
I'm right on the Rhode Island border and often sail into Rhode Island waters from Barn Island State boat ramp. This is a fabulous venue for DaySailers. The parking lot is large and the ramp is really good. It does get crowded on weekends at the height of the season, or when the fish are running. This is on Little Narragansett Bay. The waters are protected here because of Napa Tree Point and Sandy Point. However the breeze is often really nice because those points are really just sand dunes. For longer sails, when it's not too rough Block Island sound is great, as well, and easy access.
Of course Narragansett Bay is about as good as it gets. So if you are over that way and have a good venue, I'd be interested in a meet up over there, as well.
