Forum and Web Site Problem Reports and Suggestions

Postby boone » Sun Sep 05, 2004 1:40 pm

Please post problem reports and suggestions here. Feel free to point out missing content, broken links, etc.

Note added in 2015
The daysailer.org website and this forum at forum.daysailer.org/forum are hosted on separate servers and administered by separate people.
Incidentally that also means that your forum registration isn't recognized on the main website, and vice versa. Don't report that as a problem, just register twice. You can use the same password if you want.
If you post a problem report here for either, we'll see that it goes to the right person.

Discussion with Pictures

Postby EberbachD » Tue Sep 07, 2004 3:44 pm

The new site looks and works great. I was wondering, however, if the forum area that allowed photos and discussion will be re-incorporated or if photos can now added to the regular forum section. I know that the Photo forum section was under used, but it is handy at times to add a picture to the discussion. Thanks for all of your hard work.

I'm trying to decide what to do with the old photo forum. For now, you should upload images to your personal photo gallery. Click the Photos and then Users Personal Galleries. It might take some playing around with.

Then you can point people in the discussion to your gallery. I'm working out a way to embed the gallery images into the discussion as the forum currently doesn't permit inserting images from the gallery (for a technical reason), though you can insert images from remote websites.

missing links

Postby Peter McMinn » Fri Sep 24, 2004 12:03 am

The following links were helpful on the old page.

Sails for Day Sailers
D&R Marine
Cape Cod's Day Sailer Parts
Dwyer Aluminum Mast Co.
The Sailors' Tailor Boat Covers
Annapolis Performance Sailing Fleets

Can they be added to the Links page?

The Sails info is here, under Technical Info:

I'll see about the other ones.

E-mail notifications

Mike, on the old bulletin board there was a way to be notified when topics were updated. Is that still an option with the new board? if so, how do I turn it on?

great job!

Subscribing to Threads

Postby boone » Wed Sep 29, 2004 4:04 pm

Bob, at the very bottom of the page, find the "Watch this topic for replies" link, which will do what you want. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to carry over the subscription info from the previous site, so you'll need to resubscribe to stuff you're interested in.

also at the upper right, (two items under the sailboat, when you log in, will be an item entitled "view posts since your last visit" along with a couple of other options

clicking it will bunch all new post topics for your convenient viewing.

Hey,

How about an option to sign in through facebook ?

Can that be done? it would eliminate the need for separate login and stuff !!
