I am new to the forum. Do we receive notification of a reply to a post? I have searched but didn't immediately find an answer to this question, so thanks for bringing me up to speed.

Not by default, but you can subscribe to any topic at the bottom of the page:

Note that the little "check mark" is not necessarily a status indication, but I think it works showing you the new state.

You should also be able to subscribe on a larger scale, to a sub-forum or a whole forum.
