Is there, or has there ever been a fleet located in the San Juan Islands area of Washington State. I am in Bellingham, way up by the Canadian border.

Not to my knowledge. A few people have posted here and identified themselves as from Washington State, for example there was a very active contributor from the Spokane area. He dropped out when he sold his DS. However, over the years since I've frequented this forum, I've never seen anything about an active DS fleet. (There are fleets in Oregon).

If you join the DSA you can get access to the member roster which contains more information on where people and boats are located. That might help you contact other members to see whether they might be interested in meeting (whether for a fun sail, or racing) or forming a fleet.

Please remove my ignorance--what are the purposes of fleets? Regions? I take it that any boat from different fleets may enter events from outside their fleets. Is it mostly social? and why would Eastern PA be included in the NE Region?

Are only a limited number of boats from each region allowed at NACR?

Look here for information on NACR ground rules and fleets.
