I can see the lake in the background. However, I was thinking that with the trees growing "through" the water, it looks like the lake level is higher than normal. If that was the regular level, the trees should have died. At least they don't look like mangroves.

it was taken in October near Blue Ridge Georgia, Lake Ocoee, with the Ocoee river flowing into and out of it. don't know much about the trees and you could be correct,

Just adding to the mix, an early morning photo from Maine. When the weather is right (not fogged in!), I don't know a more beautiful place on Earth than Midcoast Maine.

Thank you! Going back to Maine in July, pandemic permitting. I'm going to spend a week sailing traditional catboats - a whole collection of them! At the Wooden Boat School, in Brooklin. Then my wife is flying up and we're going to spend another week back on Deer Isle. Very much looking forward to it.

The glacier rounded rocks and trees in the water are reminiscent of Norway.

Grey day here in NC, thoughts turning to Maine again. Much as I don't like "stinkpots," I love the lobsterboats and lobstermen (and women!) in Maine. Salt of the earth people.

If you ever go to those small coastal towns in Maine, like Stonington, you'll find out that the womenfolk run the entire town. The husbands are out lobstering and the wives run everything else. The hardware store, the marine parts store (usually one and the same), the Mayor(ess), Dockmistress in charge of the port, the handy(wo)men, housepainting, gas stations, stores, everything. And all the boats are named for wives or daughters. This is Kathy Kass, number 2:

#1 You don't want to "mess with" these ladies! All tough as nails. But in a sweet way... :) Actually some amazing people. Like a woman I met who has a house painting company, a baby, a husband she imported from Central America while on a mission trip, went to Boston College but missed Maine too much. I met her while she and her crew were painting the local 4-story high wooden clapboard hotel, she'd be on the phone lining up clients one minute and dangling off the roof on a belay line the next. Crazy! But they're all like that up in Maine - tough and smart.

#2 Yeah, I was tracking the boat up the harbor when the bird caught up with her. I waited till it was at the bows and CLICK. The mooring ball lining up at the same time was just luck. I like this photo very much, but it requires some retouching that I'm not up for at the moment. Maybe next time I'm printing stuff. This was taken as a fog was rolling in, so difficult conditions.
