Launch Day 2016

Postby talbot » Sat Apr 02, 2016 12:57 am

The marina opened for the year at dawn this morning. That's what the county rules say. You can't put in before dawn. So I hooked up the boat the night before, drove out in the dark with my coffee on the dash, and was there as the sun came up. Would you believe it? Someone, probably a political contributor, had snuck in a Neptune 24 ahead of me. I guess it's all who you know.

Don't think for a moment that I expect half as much service from the marina just because I'm now only 50% of the boats. Fortunately, it was a beautiful spring day, I went home to barbecue in the back yard, and there wasn't any wind anyway. So I'm inclined to let it go. This time. But just for spite, I cropped the Neptune out of my photo.

I'm jealous. Looks gorgeous. I was hoping to splash the boat this week while the kids are on spring break. Unfortunately, a system rolled in this morning and it's snowing right now; expecting accumulation of 1-3 inches. Looks like I'm still a couple weeks out. Keep us posted on the sailing, Talbot. For now I live vicariously through you!

Hm. That's a dubious life choice. A lot of people would say I'm not all that interesting in person, much less vicariously. There's nothing you can do about the snow storm, but while you are waiting for spring, have you considered counseling?

Groundhog said it was going to be an early spring, but I think that the little rat lies. We have been having a lot of weird weather in Texas. It has been cooler than usual for the most part. Today however was a good day of sailing.

Weird weather for sure! I was hiking yesterday in alternate sunny and snowing. It was icing up in the trees and the strong winds were blowing chunks of it down on us. If I didn't keep my collar snapped tight you know where those chunks were going. No wind or sunshine today just snowing! That groundhog!!

Times is tough all over. 24 hours after that still spring morning in the photo, we had driving rain, 20 mph winds, snow in the mountains.
Still, it seems to breaking a bit today. If I can accomplish a little work before lunch, I might dig out my bibs and boots and go get wet.
