Mast Length

Postby carl10579 » Tue Sep 12, 2017 4:13 am

I have this Oday 22 that I have to get rid of. Yesterday I tossed my spare Daysailer mast up on it to get it out of the way and I was amazed to find that the 2 masts were the same length (give or take a couple of inches). I think that's pretty wild that the Daysailer has so much sail. From what I hear the Oday 22 is a nice driver out in the open and points well too. On a reach in moderate winds I think the Daysailer would leave the 22 in the dust (or mist really). I think they both measured around 23.5' by comparison my Aquarius 23 mast is 26'.

I need to get out on the water. I should join fleet 93.

The builders would reuse all sorts of parts across production lines, so this does not surprise me. If John was still with us, he'd chime in that the boom on an O'Day Mariner or Rhoades 19 is the same as for a DS. And on my DS the spreader brackets are those for a Javelin.

About getting on the water more: +1

About connecting with a fleet to have reason to get out on the water more: +1

(Racing season is over, but today looks very tempting for a last spin, race or not).
