I noticed the host of 2014 Nationals, the Massapoag Yacht Club, has a strong Flying Scot fleet.

What an opportunity to compare the two boats out on the water.

Did anyone partake in any 'side' racing vs. the Flying Scot ?

Congrats to all 17 participants and the winners Steve Braese and Bob Blake. What a strong showing. I'd love to get there one of these years.

I raced against a Flying Scott for years with my DaySailer. The Scott was much faster and was skippered by one of our top sailors. I beat him once in 25 years.

I have done it a couple of times under light wind conditions and sailing Lil' Maggie solo against about 500 lbs worth of skipper and crew on the FS, but especially lat Tuesday, I gave them plenty of chances to catch up, with my gybing/handling/raising/dowsing spinnaker by myself!..in heavier winds, though I find myself watching their wake most races
