NOTICE OF RACE

2005 Day Sailer North American Championship Regatta
Huntington Lake, California -- July 11-14, 2005

Sponsored by
Fleet 128 and Fleet 31
with support from
the Morro Bay and Fresno Yacht Clubs

1. HOST AND ORGANIZING AUTHORITY
The regatta is hosted and organized by Fleet 128, Central California Coast Sea Otters, in conjunction with Fleet 31, the Fresno Flamingos.

2. RULES
This regatta will be governed by the 2005-2008 Racing Rules of Sailing, the prescriptions of U.S. Sailing, the rules of the Day Sailer Association, and by the Sailing Instructions.

3. Eligibility
Current Day Sailer members, as defined by the Day Sailer Association, are eligible. All boats in competition will be measured in. Boats with a current measurement certificate will be honored for everything excluding boat weight and sail measurements.

4. ENTRY
Competitors may enter by filling out and returning a completed entry form, attached and paying applicable fees. Early registration fee is $100. All registrations post marked before June 1st will be "early." Late registration fee is $135. Late registrations will be accepted after June 1st through Monday, July 11th at 12 noon.

5. VENUE & SAILING AREA
All races will be held at Huntington Lake in California. Huntington Lake is located at 7000 feet above sea level in the Sierra Nevada mountains east of Fresno. Please be forewarned that the final approach to Huntington Lake is a continuous uphill climb of about 40 miles. The first climb literally is "an incline without any relief."

Saturday, July 9, 2005, High Sierra Regatta (not part of DaySailer NAC's but, a good opportunity to get to know the lake). (For information on the High Sierra Regatta, please go to www.fresnoyachtclub.org.)

Monday, 11, 2005, 9:00 am, Skippers meeting for Junior NAC's.

9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Registration and measurement
6:00 pm, Welcoming dinner at the Beach and Junior NAC's awards
Tuesday, July 12, 2005, 9:00 am, Skipper's Meeting for NAC's
11:00 am, First gun for first race
6:00 pm Pot Luck with the Fresno Yacht Club
(bring your brazed Flamingo!) and DSA Annual Meeting.
Wednesday, July 13, 2005, 11:00 am, First gun for day two
Dinner on your own
Thursday, July 14, 2005, 11:00 am, First gun for day three
6:00 pm Awards Banquet at Huntington Lake Lodge

7. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
* Sailing instructions will be made available at registration with updates provided on Tuesday morning at the Skipper's meeting.
* Instruction for the Junior NAC's will be handed out Monday at the Junior NAC's Skipper's meeting.
* Courses for NAC's and Junior NAC's will most likely not be the same.

8. BOAT STORAGE
Boats may be stored in the water or in the parking lot.

9. SCORING
The low-point scoring system of Appendix A of the 2005-2009 Racing Rules of Sailing will apply. Five or more races must be completed before a discard will be applied. Three races must be completed to constitute a regatta.

10. PRIZES
Take home trophies will be awarded to the top ten finishers in the Championship Fleet, the top five finishers in the Presidential Fleet, and perpetual trophies in categories as defined in the DSA Handbook. Trophies will be awarded at the awards banquet on Thursday, July 14th.

12. JUNIOR NAC REGATTA
A Junior North American Championship Regatta will be held on Monday, July 11, 2005. Eligible skippers must be 18 years old or younger. There will be a small entry fee and a minimum of three boats for the event. It you are a junior skipper interested in participating.
