how bout a dodger?

Postby dannyb9 » Mon Aug 31, 2009 6:52 pm

i think my newly acquired ds1 might benefit this winter from a dodger. there seems to be plenty of room under the boom and it would make the generous space under the cuddy even bigger. plus i like that feeling of 'hunkering down' behind some protection while sailing to weather in conditions, spray flying. anybody tried it or have one?

Dodger?

Postby SaltLakeSailer » Tue Sep 01, 2009 2:38 pm

I thought that's what the crew was for,... sit them forward and on the same side as the captain, and voila, one dry captain! No?

Personally, spray coming over the coamings makes it seem like the DS is a performance instead of picnic craft. Of course, the lakes around here freeze before we have a chance to sail in real cold weather like those of you who might venture out off season into the ocean.

'cold weather'

Postby dannyb9 » Tue Sep 01, 2009 4:22 pm

i live in southern south carolina so i sail and paddle all year. i got the ds to be my 'off season' boat. i usually sail a hobie or outrigger canoe in the summer months. the 'crew to weather ' wont work too well for me, though it is effective...she gets as much tiller time as i : )
