adhesive for cuddy opening vinyl strip

Postby navahoIII » Thu May 22, 2008 4:21 pm

Hello All,

Any suggestions for an adhesive to bond that white vinyl strip back onto the top of the cuddy opening (and the storage shelves too)?

Thanks.

Mine never had a vinyl strip along the cuddy opening, and I can't say that I'd feel one necessary. For the shelves, I've not had problems with them coming off (except when there are small busy fingers in the cuddy) but I would be inclned to try some silcone caulking, in the event. Perhaps even only at some selected points, in any case something that can be pulled apart again should it be required for any reason.

3M 4200

I would suggest 3M 4200 (not 5200 as that would be permanent), but as another poster had stated, my strip came loose, so I just pulled it off and cleaned up the edge. It looked cleaner afterward than it did with the strip.

I used a product from Loctite called Marine Plumber for this. I put small dabs only at six or eight spots and that holds the remaining in place nicely. If I ever choose to remove it, I don't think it would be much of a headache to pull it off.
