Does anyone have a picture of the end boom sheeting setup?

Thanks,

John

There is a photo at this site which shows an end boom traveler with mid cockpit control. Its the best of both worlds in my opinion:

Actually, mine is something like that. I'm trying to find a way to take the cleat off the centerboard trunk and use it at the back of the boat. It seems like it would clear up the area in the cockpit if I didn't have the sheet in the middle of the cockpit.

Hi John,

I have no notion of the feasibility or advisability of what I am thinking, but here it is. Take a removable boom vang setup (something like this)

Shackle this to your traveler pendant on the aft deck. I've seen the floating traveler setup, but not sure what hardware you would need to do it. Also not sure if it needs to be adjustable and cleated, or if a fixed line with a block on it will work. The downside is you will have to be at the aft of the boat all the time. Hope my idea helps some.
P.S. I would install heavy reinforcing plates under the attachment points on the aft deck (as large as you can fit under there). Some of the more experienced people here can advise you on the best type (wood or foam glassed in vs. metal). That is a lot of load in a weak area.

I was hoping to use the swivel block off the centerboard trunk instead of buying new block and tackle.

interference and angle

Unless you can get your swivel block above the tiller, you will have issues with interference with each other. On my current boat I have an inboard rudder with a traveller almost immediately behind it. It is constantly interfering with the tiller so I had to put a link plate inbetween the traveller and sheet block to get clearance over the rudder.
