what to pay for a '94 SLI DS by Sunfish/Laser?

I'm considering a 1994 DS (manufactured by Sunfish/Laser). I've been told it is in very good condition and was previously outfitted for racing. I'm willing to pay more for a DSI that is in excellent condition, but the asking price of this one seems extremely high at $6000. I've been told the SLI's from Sunfish/Laser are not competitive and could never be worth that much? Is the boat still worth buying? And if so, what price range is reasonable for an SLI like this that's well equipped and in very good condition but definately shows some use? All opinions on this are welcomed. (By the way, what does SLI mean?)

Sounds mighty high to me. I would think at that price range it should be fully tricked out for racing and have a history of winning, and you would have to care about those kinds of things (i.e., you are buying it because you want to race at the highest levels of DS competition and be competitive with the best boats out there). I also think you will be happier with your boat if you find one in the "normal" price range ($1,000 to $3,000) and spend the difference getting it setup exactly as you want.

Just my $0.02, and I am sure those with more experience can, and will, weigh in with more detail.

Good luck with your hunt for a boat!

I believe it is Sunfish Laser Incorporated. Brad
