I've given up trying to find a pair of shelves for my DS1, so I have decided to build a set. Has anyone out there built shelves or come up with an alternate solution (not cargo nets)?

My thought was to borrow a shelf and lay up some glass over it to create a new shelf.

Looks like you might have found yourself a set, after all.

In case you or anyone had gotten to the point of actually building shelves from scratch, I would have recommended plywood. Using a technique similar to how stitch-and-glue boats are built would have given fast and durable results, possibly cheaper, lighter (and stiffer) than the originals.
