one strand of wire from the jibstay broke and is unraveling up the stay. the jib snaps get hung on it.

How can I repair the one strand of wire without replacing the entire stay?

Diane:

You need to replace the entire stay. Once it starts unravelling it's gone. There is a lot of advice that suggests if the stay is starting to go the others ((shrouds) are also near the end of their reliable life span as well, and it would be time to replace them all.

A good source for Daysailer rigging is D&R. Many of us have bought stuff from this place. They are honest, reliable, ship quickly, and know everything about the DS.

Carlos is on the money.

Don't risk it; the loss of a mast could be the the result. Tear the jib and you're out twice the replacement cost of all three stays.

D&R is the place to go.

and if D&R is too far away in time and $, go to your local flying club maintenance shop. They have the ability to rig what you need including the nicropress fittings and ss 1/8" shrouds. They use the same material for small plane control cables.
