Thinking of buying a DS II

I have the opportunity to buy a DS II for a good price, it is a basic boat that seems to be in good condition. This means it has plenty of room for improvement. I am a member of a small sail club in the mid-west that has a PHRF racing fleet. before I buy this boat I want to hear from some other owners how they think this boat would fair in a PHRF fleet. I have been doing a lot of reading and it sounds like this is a boat I would enjoy, and there seems to be a lot of advice to make these boats nice racers. Although I am not into racing so much to win as to improve my skill level, I still would prefer to be in the pack versus bringing up the rear.

My plan is to start with just the main and jib and add a spinnaker maybe next season.

Does anyone know the PHRF rating for this boat?

Any comments would be appreciated.

Last I looked, it was about 266 or 268, or close to that number.
You can throw those numbers out the window if you are in a very windy location, and the course has lots of reaches. If that is the case, in the right conditions, you could blow the doors off all the keel boats if you can get up and keep up on plane.
