I have been following prices of sailboats on ebay and have noticed what appears to be a steep drop in prices over the last year. If I decide to sell my DS II, does would anyone here have a guess as to how much value I have lost since last summer?

There are a lot of boats on the market right now. Many people trying to turn unused assets into cash. But also, there seems to be a generational change going on - lots of older people selling.
This is just my impression - not a sound statistic.
So, yes, you could be right, this might be a buyers' market.
However, remember that the range in prices for a boat like this is still significant. Well maintained, or superior finish, still seems to command a premium.
Do you see the same drop in prices when looking at the listings here or at Craiglist? (I mean, specifically, boats not listed on EBay). And even there. is the value/price going up, or do you just see project boats being dumped?

For comparison:
I looked at a '73 DSII the other day. Seller only used it a few times, decided sailing wasn't for him...
It was in fine shape, nice set of sails, still crisp, North I think. The gelcoat could have used a little polishing, but overall the topside and hull looked good. Spars and rigging looked fine. The rudder/gudgeons setup was not original, but evidently worked well. It needed some work on the CB cable system, but he had the parts. Trailer included. No motor. It started at $1450 and sold for $900CAN. I had a friend who was interested and decided against it (when price had dropped to $1200), then found out another friend would have bought it (they have a 12' Echo and are looking to trade-up - this would have been perfect). For $900 I'd say it was a steal.
