If you have logged in, try setting the "keep me logged in" check mark during login. That prevents you from being logged out as you browse.

Have you checked the "keep me logged in" checkmark as you are logging in?

The forum doesn't allow viewing some images if you aren't logged in and if you don't set that checkmark you can be logged out without realizing it.

If that fails, can you try a different device or a different browser? Not sure it would make a difference, but one never knows; all data help.

I am logged in. (I have checked 'log me in each visit' but am not automatically logged in when I go to the forum so I have to log in manually). I have found no 'keep me logged in' checkbox. My usename is shown in the forum interface which tells me I'm logged in.

I go to my topic and can see my uploaded photo in the thread.

But when I go to a link for another/older forum topic... the forum interface does not show my username anymore (seeming to indicate that I am not logged in). The images in that older post all display 'not authorized'. I can't see the images.

You are correct about the name of the check box. But normally, if you have checked that one, it should prevent that automatic logging out.

Also, on this forum, the "gallery" is the one that requires permissions, attached images do not. Please try the "Basic concepts" thread in "Seamanship" and see whether you can see the images there.

I can see my own gallery images and I'm not logged out.

I can also link to other users' images in my posts.

The issue seems to be that you are being logged out despite asking not to. Do you use particularly aggressive privacy settings that might prevent the site from remembering you?

If you have another browser, or another device, could you try from there? In the meantime, what is your configuration? OS, Browser, etc.

I'll pass anything you find to our webmaster.

Thanks for the ideas!

I am logged in and can see your photo in this topic with no problem. I have numerous computers but the one I primarily use for surfing the internet is Win7/Firefox/Chrome. I have no problems browsing/viewing images on other forums with this setup. I normally use Firefox but Chrome produces the same results. I will try a different computer/tablet, etc.

What's different today is... now when I go to the link provided in the repair thread in a new tab, the forum interface now properly shows that, yes, I am still logged-in. That's good.

But the images in that repair topic are not shown.

Don't have a lot of time to troubleshoot right now but will try more later.

Thanks again.

One thing you might want to try (if you haven't already) is to either clear your cache of images or just hit shift-reload in your browser (I think it's the same in most browsers). I find that if I go to the forum while I am not logged in and then I go to any post that has gallery images, I will see the "not authorized to view" image. If I then go login and navigate to that same post, the "not authorized to view" image still displays. But then if I do shift-reload, the image loads and appears as expected.

Let me know if that works for you.

Richard

Thanks very much for that tip! The 'Shift-Reload' trick worked and I can now see the images in the repair thread.

Thanks again.
