Hello there,

We have RRRxx11028 built in late 1979 in Sacramento, CA. Her name is Red Rebel.

Can someone please let us know way the numbers in the position xx are for?

I think I have a '64.

Class # 1738
Hull # 9980 or maybe 4980 (that faded hand-engraving is a little tricky to read).

It is true what they say about it being bad luck to re-name your boat.

My dear wife, who passed away in May this year after battling a severe lung condition for years, was the one who insisted we buy our Daysailer close to twenty years ago. I of course balked and protested, but soon came round and have grown to love this boat and the great pleasure she has given us in sailing her. We named her "Andiamo".

I sailed her yesterday for the first time this year (beautiful weather and great sailing!) and had just renamed her after my wife -- "ANNIE" -- the day before. On the way to the lake one of the trailer tires practically disintegrated on the highway (same tires that were on when we bought the boat and don't know how long they had been on before that -- but, clearly, it was past time for new tires!). Anyway, I soon got help from a nearby auto shop, that towed the trailer and boat to their place and put on two new tires I found at Tractor Supply (about $200 including wheels). There is some good luck, too, because they only charged me $75! I thought the towing alone would be at least double that.

So, off I went to the lake having sacrificed a couple of hours. I steppped the mast (with help from a young man who kindly asked if i needed a hand -- I could have done it myself but I figured 'why not'?!) and got ANNIE ready to sail. As I roll down the launch ramp I feel pretty good as everything appears to be good smoothly. I get her in the water, tie her up to a post and then drive the trailer away to a designated parking area where I also leave the car. I stroll back down to the water thinking 'I'll soon be out there in a state of bliss!' As I get to the boat I see what looks like a little water in her, then a lot of water! I never felt so dumb! I had forgotten to plug the drain hole...so the next 45 minutes were dedicated to pumpimg and sponging her out and mopping up an impressive amount of silt that had found its way in.

I must really love it, because none of these mishaps (granted, they weren't THAT bad) dampened my spirit and were soon forgotten by that indescribable pleasure and satisfaction one gets from sailing!

Anyway, if there is someone out there who can change the name from "Andiamo" to "ANNIE" on the list I would be grateful to you.

Thanks,
NavahoIII
